A History
Sophitia's story starts in Athens, Greece. She lived a commoner's life as the daughter of the baker Acheoulus until the evil twin blades Soul Edge made their appearance. Hepheastus, the god of the forge chose Sophitia, along with many others, to seek out and destroy the evil blades. Sophitia was strong in spirit and not only succeeded in destroying the evil blade, but also helped several people (like Rock) on her way. In her battle, however, the Greek prophetess was severely injured; she was later rescued by the ninja Taki.
Sophitia awoke in her own home and went back to the happy, lazy life typical of her homeland. However, that would all change one fate-filled day...
Because Sophitia had beaten the evil pirate Cervantes, she paved the way for Taki to defeat him and the young Seigfried to destroy him. But when Seigfried picked up the evil blade, he became the monster Nightmare.
Sophitia and her sister Cassandra were out walking
about the market one day when Sophitia collapsed quite suddenly. When she awoke
from her trance, she found that the smith Rothian had found her and helped her
sister take her home. Sophitia forgot the trance for a long while and lived
happily with the man who had saved her, eventually agreeing to marry him. Sophitia
and Rothian went to Hepheastus' temple to announce their marriage to the god
of the forge only to find his earthly manifestation before them.
He asked Sophitia to take up her sword and shield and fight against the evil
Soul Edge once again. Rothian insisted that he fight in her place, but the god
forbade it. Sophitia was such a strong young woman--she had defeated one of
the evil swords, why not destroy the other? Hepheastus gave Rothian blessed
metal with which to forge a great weapon and shield for his fiancee.
Sophitia suited up and left on her quest to destroy
the evil sword and save the boy whom she felt she had destroyed.
